Question Beginners path to game development?

Hi all,

I am a beginner-ish programmer having first learnt mostly Web Development technologies such as JavaScript, PHP and the other essentials such as CSS, HTML, Bootstrap and a bit of Laravel.

But the main purpose of my self-taught web development learning was to be able to create web based mini games for fun which I would love. Having studied above technologies for a couple of years now and with the basic understanding of programming conventions I would like to step up to learning C# and using Unity Engine for my games development.

My question is if I also wanted to throw in a career path along this line or slightly differently, what other techs would you recommend me to dive into?

Game dev has spread out so much to a lot of sub-specialties so it really depends on what you want to do. There's mobile game dev; there's console dev; there's online games dev. And even there, there's people who focus on sounds, graphics, physics, input, networking, AI, level design, etc.
