Having problems with seeing the error with publishing

Trying to publish my ASP.Net app but this error pops up.

There are no output logs. Pressing "See logs in Output window" does nothing.
And even though it says an error occured, the console displays this:

I'm pretty much lost. And would appreciate any help

It's a bit bizarre that the Output window seems to indicate that it succeeded. Can you see new output in the expected location?

I get that a lot with one of my sites publishing to linux on Azure; part of the deployment is to restart the webapp and it fails/doesn't do the restart sometimes, even though the publish succeeded (and the site reloads the new code anyway, so I don't really care about the fake error)
