I'm fairly new to C# so this may be a stupid question. I'm working with a class library in Visual Studio and need to add a reference but there's no Reference node in solution explorer.
Is there something wrong in my setup?

It looks like you have a .NET Core application. Right click on "Dependencies" node and select "Add Reference..." or "Manage NuGet packages..." to add something. To see what is currently present, expand out the "Dependencies" node.

So when I expand it I have this -

And when I right-click and 'Add Reference...' the reference manager is empty

Yup, that is normal for a .NET Core. You can explore for stuff using the left one of that dialog box.

Are you following are particular tutorial or lesson? If so, it maybe old material that assumes you are creating something using .NET Framework rather than .NET Core.

That sorted it - I changed it from .NET Core to .NET Framework. I was working on an old tutorial. Thanks for your help!
