Expression Studio 4 Ultimate

I was wondering if anyone knew exactly what Expression Studio is....

what I mean is this a replacement for Visual Studio , WPF or is it an addon which works with both programs?

I am thinking about trying it out but wanted to know exactly what it was used for.

Expression Studio is intended to do for designers what Visual Studio does for developers. Expression Web is a web development environment that focuses more on the UI than the code behind like Visual Studio. Expression Design and Encoder are for vector-based images and video. Expression Blend is an environment for creating XAML interfaces for WPF and Silverlight applications. Microsoft intended that UI specialists would use Blend while developers wrote code in VS for the same project. Blend offers more power and creative freedom that VS does.

Expression Studio is now defunct though, with Blend being provided as a free tool along with VS. What is basically Blend 5 installs along with VS 2012. I'm fairly sure that it comes with all editions, including Express for Desktop and Express for Windows Phone.
